Biography

I am an atmospheric physicist specialized in the characterization of aerosols, water vapor, clouds, and atmospheric thermodynamics using advanced active and passive remote sensing techniques, including Raman lidars, microwave radiometers, sun photometers, and ceilometers. My research focuses on high-resolution atmospheric profiling, aerosol–cloud interactions, and the evaluation of their impact on weather, climate, and the Earth’s radiative balance.

I obtained my degree in Physics from the University of Granada in 2006 and completed my Ph.D. in Atmospheric Physics at the same institution in 2012. My doctoral work received the Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award from the University of Granada and the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award at RICTA 2013.

Between 2013 and 2020, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern and later at MeteoSwiss, where I led my own research project as Principal Investigator. Since 2021, I have been affiliated with the Department of Applied Physics at the University of Granada, first as a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow and, since May 2026, as Associate Professor.

Throughout my career, I have participated in more than 25 national and international research projects, leading seven as Principal Investigator. My current research includes high-resolution water vapor and temperature profiling and the calibration and validation of aerosol products for the EarthCARE satellite mission through multi-platform remote sensing observations.
